Happy Birthday ShadowMusic

This version of ShadowMusic is 4 years old today so I would like to wish all members a very happy birthday.

My thanks go to David Martin, Dave Robinson, Iain Purdon and the various club moderators for looking after the site over the past year. It hasn't always been easy and moderators often find themselves in a no-win situation, but I am very happy with their efforts and hope that they continue as they have been over the next several years (if they can handle the strain).

My thanks also go to all the members, of course, without whom there would be no ShadowMusic. We now have 2663 members and this number is growing all the time. Nine members have now posted over 1000 messages and the record holders deserve special mention: Ecca wins a used red plectrum for having the most posts at 2802 with Jim Nugent runner up at 2487. Dave Robinson is in third place with 2429.

It is incredibly impressive that a band who enjoyed their first hit over 50 years ago have maintained such a devoted following with active discussions, events and clubs operating all over the world. This is a fantastic testament to the music they started all those years ago. My ultimate thanks must, therefore, go to all the members of The Shadows who, I doubt, would have believed the affection and following they still have today had they been foretold the future during their early days.

Thanks again to everyone whether you post regularly, occasionally or just browse occasionally to keep up to date.

All the best,

Bob.

Apparently you won the Jimmy Krankie look-a-like contest at Shadsfix as well !. PS Many thanks to all moderators and everyone running the site.

"Ecca wins a used red plectrum for having the most posts at 2802"

I'll need to check the serial number on that to make sure it's not one of my rentals. :D :D

All the best, Bob

We in turn should thank Bob who hosts the site for us. That involves a lot of clever computer wizardry to make the software perform for us in the terrific, user-friendly way it does.

Bob made clear at the outset that he wanted to provide this facility as a service to us Shadows fans and was not going to charge for it. There is, however, no such thing as a free lunch. There are continuing costs involved and if you appreciate having the site there is the opportunity to make a donation. See the row of options at the top of the screen.

Bob did not know I was going to say this and he may prefer that I hadn't. But we do have a lot of new members who may simply not know :)

All the best! Iain

Happy birthday to this version of ShadowMusic, although I have not forgotten the first version on MSN which I joined in may 2000. Time goes fast...

Happy Birthday, ShadowMusic. Like Didier, I too remember the old days at MSN.
2000, and now it's 2013.
Well done!!
