Nice to hear (radio 2 7:35 am) Apache being played in full, apart from Chris Evans talking over the ending :o

Sadly, this is often the fate of intros, when we're lucky enough to hear them at all, with fade-out endings. Foot Tapper was played over the weekend on Classic Gold and featured in its uninterrupted entirety!

It was, of course, a standard technique in the old days, to prevent obtaining a decent (illegal) recording from the radio. Not really sure it's relevant these days.

but we've all got lots of Shads recordings, why does it matter whether they play it on the radio?

For me the best bit of radio is hearing something new then buying it.

50 years ago we probably had one record player in a household and a few records so hearing your favourites on the radio was important, now though we've probably got CD players in every room, iPods, phones, computers probably with thousands of tracks.

Don't get me wrong I'm not wet blanketing, but when did you last hear, Mike Oldfield, George Harrison, Hurricane Smith, Gary Moore? Does it matter to me? not a jot, if I want to hear them I can, I don't have to wait for months to hear them on the radio.

You hardly hear the Shads on the radio these days. I've only heard them on Sounds of the sixties or the occasional tune on Radio Clyde 2.
It's all Lady Gaga, One Direction and Rhinana these days and i hate it! :D
God, i sound like an old codger!

I thought the general idea of this site was to keep the Shadows music alive and going and to promote it to new fans. So to do this then surely we want to hear it played on radio, telly and whatever other means to get it out there to the masses. It's not just ours to savour. I think years of buying records/ cd's video and the many live concerts we've payed for is it too much to ask for radio and the likes to let us hear it occasionally in our daily routines instead of the usual Buble, Jackson, Stewart sh-t that we get rammed down our ear holes along with the constant verbal dioreha that the majority of presenters wish to serve us.
