Dear Forum Members

I'm pleased to say that the latest addition to my website comes from the pen of Chris Drake, whose feature "Shadows Of The Seventies" takes a searching look at a phase of the group's career that is often dealt with far too sketchily. There are some well-chosen pics to savour too.

Best wishes
Malcolm C.

Funnily enough, when I was in London for the NFL game at the end of September, I heard a rap version of Apache.

Could that have been MC Website on the decks?

Interesting stuff.
Is there any particular reason why MWF wasn't gone into in detail ?

Basically I just wanted to confine the article to the Shadows and in particular the tracks contained in The Collection double CD. This was the 'hook' on which I decided to hang it. I was tempted simply to try and cover the whole of the 1970s but quickly realised that to do this would be a monumental task and would probably require more space than was reasonable!

Maybe next time...

Hope you like the article, or at least the pictures that go with it!!!!

:D

Thanks. I enjoyed writing it and once I had found the 'hook' it all came very naturally. Obviously by basing it around the contents of The Collection, many of my all-time favourite Shads tracks could not really be mentioned - Honourable Puff Puff, Spider Juice, Rose, Rose, Rockin' With Curly Leads, Gutbucket, Jumpin' Jack Input, for example. I'm also a HUGE fan of the MWF stuff - particularly Second Opinion - which is amongst the best material the lads ever recorded. In my opinion. Didn't really have much of an opportunity to mention that either. Oh well, maybe next time...
