Nice Dave for info I got a copy of the G&L owners manual for setup . The tremolo base plate is set around 3/16s off the body so it lies flat not tilted for info measured from top of body to bottom of trem plate. I readjusted mine to this and sounds good. When ou get the guitar there is not guarantee it will be setup ! I am sure you will know this !

Well it arrived eventually at 6pm today, it couldn't have been any later, which when you have been waiting all day is annoying to say the least, but boy was it worth the wait.
I'm so pleased that I chose the S-500 over the Legacy because it is so different with a fabulous palette of tones that I hadn't had before. Like you have said Roger, the tone controls are delightful. I'm off to re-string it now. Thanks for pointing me in this direction.
