So, the question is . . . . . . how do we modify the Strat to the same spec as the G&L tone circuit ? :)

Had to revise the info on the file about pots.txt after seeing further info on the G&L site as the 1 Meg pot is a reverse audio taper not Linear as another site suggested.

Also the pots and parts they sell for Tribute and USA series will differ such as the pots and knobs.

Thanks Roger. Luckily pots don't cost an arm and a leg so it won't break the bank to experiment will it? 8-)

No Dave they are for sale on G&L site and 5 way switches, knobs and others not over priced and readily available which is a good start. Should be able to get most things from usual sources though.

It's good if parts can be sourced here in the UK because the G&L online store charge $25 for every shipment, no matter how small. I complained about this because my guitar arrived and the little allen screw was missing from the vibrato arm, so I attempted to order some for about £3 and then saw the delivery charges. I got a nice email from Chris Robosan telling me that he agreed about the shipping costs but it was a third party that ran the online store and G&L didn't profit from it, but has agreed to send some screws & nylon bushes for free. You can't get better than that.
I had already sourced some allen screws from a friend who works in the engineering trade, they are 4mm metric.

Noted Dave

I had a little allen screw missing in a Wilkinson bridge and the CEO made sure I got two when I asked !

$25 is a bit naughty for shipment oh well.

I did some recording with the S-500 today and the easiest way to get a normal Strat tone is to roll off all the bass and perhaps a bit of treble. I was doing 'A' 'B' comparision between the two types of guitar. I also recorded three takes of Apache using G&L, Strat and Burns Marvin going through the Catalinbread/Vox AC-4 into the recorder via an AKG C-1000 microphone. I used the Catalinbread as it was handy and the others weren't. The sound on each of the guitars is very ,very close, similar to the test that Spike did recently. 8-)

I'm looking forward to playing it this week at ou pub gig on Thursday night. It really is comfy to play and I particularly like the flat neck, I'm going to nick-name it Van Gaal.
