Smilies

Hi,
Having recently clicked on the 'View more smilies' section and chosen one for a thread, now whenever I exit from the web by clicking the red cross at top right, whereas before this would take me back to my desktop, now I have the smilies page remaining and have to exit from that each time, no matter which website I may have last visited.
It's not a major issue but it's becoming an annoying inconvenience so can anyone tell me how to remove this smilies page from the exiting sequence? (I have WindowsXP).

Well just to confuse matters it's stopped doing it now . . .
I'm using Mozilla Firefox and wonder if that has issues with certain links, whereby the last one clicked on remains the outgoing page, no matter which site one visits. Just an idea, that's all.
