I found this site whilst looking up some information on The Shadows and decided to join.

Both my twin brother ( now sadly dead ) and I had a great interest in the Shadows’ music from the early ‘60s.
Philip played drums and I ( attempted ) the bass guitar.
Not very successfully...

Phil carried on with his drumming and I eventually moved into PA systems.
If I couldn’t play I could, at least, help guitarists obtain a good sound.

Even after all the intervening years, the Shadows still sound ‘fresh’ and relevant.
Their unique ‘sound’ has never been bettered, in my opinion.

Now I’ve discovered this site I will spend some time reading through it.
Even a cursory glance made me realise how little I actually know.

Welcome to the site Martyn

The site is organised into separate boards to help everyone home in on their areas of interest.

As well as browsing these, you can also use our Search and Advance Search facility (top right). It is very powerful if you think of good search conditions. However it will not search for terms very commonly used on the site: I’m sure you can figure out what those might be.

Thanks to a huge number of knowledgeable members over the year, most of the likely questions have been answered. But there will always be one that none of us had yet thought of!

Many thanks, Iain, for your welcome.

I feel sure I’ll enjoying exploring the site and adding to my knowledge

Welcome Martyn, If I understand you correctly you are not a guitar player yourself, but have been supplying or working with PA systems, if so it’s good to know because there are possibly members on the site that can benefit from your shared experience?

I looked up MGM Audio, if you have an association with them they are very much into PA’s, mixing equipment, audio interfaces, mic’s and other kit that may be of interest. Judging by you saying you were around in the 60’s like myself, I guess you are now retired, but possibly have some interesting stories from back in the day!

Regards

Gary
