It was interesting indeed. Last Thursday and Friday, there were two programmes on Dutch television about the Dutch band The Analogues. They specialise in recreating The Beatles' albums from "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" onwards live on stage. The Thursday broadcast was a documentary about them rehearsing the sgt. Pepper album and buying vintage equipment and instruments to recreate the original sounds. On Friday evening their concert in Amsterdam of the sgt. Pepper album was broadcast. I must say, they sounded absolutely great, it was like hearing the album itself!

is the remixed Sergeant Pepper album worth having. peter

I wouldn't say the 'remix' is worth having as the original creators say the album is best heard as the first mono version. I bought the original Sergeant Pepper when it first came out and must have listened to it a 'hundred' times, but unless you compared them side by side I doubt you'd notice the difference. Whats more interesting are the outtakes and other versions on the mp3 giveaway.

'Without a Word' is better for a second listening and is in my opinion better than the last album, somehow stronger.

thanks for that information. I have brought it and agree the outtakes and other versions have made it worthwhile and it did make me listen to the whole thing again but I love the vinyl sound. peter
