It's funny. Hank says there probably won't be another reunion as no one wants to do it. Yet in another interview recently he said there should be something to mark the 60th anniversary.

I'm the 'whatever happened to Bruce Welch' article in the Express, Bruce said he wanted to do a tour but Hank didn't.

Brian Bennett said in an interview he throws the suggestion out now and then to do something.

So I wonder how they will mark the 60th anniversary.

It's almost as if all press interviews are cobbled together from out-of-context snippets of conversations about more general subjects.

You know what'll happen for the 60th Anniversary? A record company might just release a compilation album. Bruce could do another Shadowmania at Lakeside and Brian might come along just for the fun of it. That's about it. There'll be no tour, and no Hank.

Personally, I don't want any more than that.

Agreed, better to remember them as they were.

Anyway, at their age and after all they've achieved, surely they're entitled to a quiet life.

Having read in Bruce's book from nearly 30 years ago about how he gave Hank a framed blazer badge of Rutherford Grammar School when Hank emigrated to Australia in 1986, it was good to see a picture of it in the Daily Mail article. Also the original banjo which Hank bought off his school teacher.

Yeah, never seen that before.

Of course there will never be another 'tour', but I can't see any reason to rule out a few nights at one venue. It wouldn't be a financial risk, as the tickets would sell out in hours if not minutes.

Didn't the 2 'encore' shows at the NEC in 2005 (or was it 2004?) sell out the same day the tickets went on sale?
I'd like to see a few nights at say, the Paladium or another big venue but only if they're physically up for it. They might need to leave out the FBI kick though!

It must be so physically demanding whatever age you are to do a full show.

Hank still gigs with the gypsy jazz and makes albums, Brian still writes and records projects (looking forward to album with Alan Hawkshaw), Bruce likes contributing interviews...

Perhaps the answer is a definitive documentary with some extras for the fans on the DVD - jamming or rare tracks live recorded at a small theatre.

David Gilmour and Eric Clapton can sell out multiple nights at the Royal Albert Hall. So would The Shadows.

I don't expect them to tour at their ages but I always have thought they are rarely, if ever, properly represented on video - so I'd like them to sit together in a suitable studio and seriously play a selection of material live with a really good lead Strat/Burns sound as appropriate for the vintage of each track. I wouldn't want another greatest hits package although some would have to be there, and some later stuff would be totally welcome and even a Gypsy track for variety if Hank insisted. Maybe a two disc DVD then with an accompanying, and importantly, accurate documentary on them preferably supervised by a member of the 'glitterati' to ensure their deserved status is granted to them. 'Rhythm and Greens' could be a 'bonus' video item!
