Yes those were the days.
Sat in my bedroom after tea - with my dads flying helmet on - plugged into the radio - radio Luxembourg - no homework done - again.

In 2021.....this particular CD (which I do not have!!!) is really about as good as it gets with regard to the Shads' 'Luxy Recordings'. Over the years...a handful have been listed as BBC recordings and vice versa!!!! 30 or so years ago (maybe even 40!!) when 'grey area' cassettes etc began circulating amongst fans (pre - CD era)...there was a lot less information / proper research available...hence, many errors crept in and some became enshrined as fact. A few will, undoubtedly, never be able to be fully corroborated either way. But the version of "Apache" here was one of the worst (errors - that is). It has been cited as being an "Easy Beat" recording from August 6th, 1961. Totally wrong. Yes....The Shadows did play "apache" on that BBC show.....but the BBC Archives confirm that Cliff did not appear on that show...so NO WAY could he have played rhythm guitar for the absent Bruce Welch...who was NOT absent!!! The actual recording of "Apache" on Easy Beat was thought to be lost forever. But.... a copy was eventually located and it is featured on "The Lost BBC Sessions" CD - Volume 1. :D
