Geronimo - Compilation LP

Postby drakula63 » 24 Apr 2022, 15:33

Just discovered this 1975 compilation LP on ebay. I'll assume that it is Australian (even though it says that record company Dyna House is "A Division of Continental Dynamics Inc. 299 Park Ave, NY. NY." on the label) as the back cover blurb makes a point of noting that John Farrar is Australian. I believe it was released on at least one other label too and was advertised on TV. Plus the only copies I have found are located in Australia.

This is an Australian only release and was issued in 1975. A CD version appeared on J and B Records (JB 439CD) in December 1990

I see that someone else is using our "track origins" system, Paul!

J&B also released it on LP at the same time as the CD. I had never seen reference to the TV series 'The Medic' before. There are multiple copies on the Aus ebay site... I think the thing that distinguishes it most from other compilations is the painted/drawn artwork on the reverse.

Not to my knowledge, Chris. J & B issued it on Cassette and CD. The only vinyl pressed in Australia by J & B were: -
Sounds Of Today (The Silver Album)
Moonlight Shadows
Steppin' To The Shadows

WOW!!, You were right, Chris.

Never seen that copy before. Amazing how things still turn up.
I have a copy now.

The Medic Theme, composed by Victor Young in 1954, was the original title of the piece, as per the sheet music, until Edward Heyman added the relevant lyric (in 1955) which duly provided the title we have long since come to know and love.
