A repeat of the BBC's 1966 programme featuring HA, by any chance?

If so, watch out for the guitarist's Fender Electric XII...

Could be?

Yes, I always looked out for the XII. The guitarist in question is John Pisano, who also had a gig as second guitar for Joe Pass... He was in the UK a year or so ago playing one of the jazz festivals.

Very enjoyable - but probably the most obvious case of miming I have ever seen.

Definitely worth watching.

...especially the bit where the Fender Xii sounded like a mandolin!

Well worth watching - or in my case, recording!

Just dredging a few of these older threads (well, someone's got to post something!).

As you may remember, George, I managed to meet John Pisano at a weekly guitar gig in West Hollywood a couple of years ago (June 2013, I think - James and I were there for the auction of Les Paul's equipment). John was very approachable and accessible at this two guitars, (double) bass and drums night.

I managed to ask him about the Fender Electric XII, which he remembered with fondness.

Still got his email address around somewhere...
