The Shadows have a new member!

Postby suboA21 » 24 Sep 2009, 07:46

According to the JMI website news page, The Shadows took delivery of the JMI 30 Amps and Hank Marvin and Bruce WELSH are very pleased with the sound.

I wonder what Bruce Welch thinks of the sound..........................?

It's taken 50 years for most of the press and public to stop putting the S at the end of Cliff Richard - now they're picking on Brucie!
Not good for customer relations me thinks!!!!

He! He! Despite having backed Cliff on virtually every BBC Radio session 1959 - 1968 as well as numerous appearances of their own, the BBC contracts were still spelling Bruce's surname as Welsh right up to 1967. Occasional other 'Shadows members' (according to the contracts) were: John Rossill, Tony Meecham, Tony Meechan, Hank Karlin and...Hank Karvin. Jet was never misspelt - but, on one composer credit - "Jet Black" wasn't attributed to J.Harris or Harris but....A. Box!

Best wishes,

Rob :D

Even their own record company's ( pathetic) attempt at a Shadows Website to promote the 2004 Tour spelt it with an "S". :? :?

Further to popular opinion (I asked him myself), it is pronounced Welsh rather than Welch...

I've had to live with this problem for years and mine's also pronounced 'Welsh'. More annoyingly, those across the pond keep referring to someone who goes back on his word as a 'welcher' and
I usually have to spell things out when speaking over the phone: "That's Martyn with a 'y' and Welch with a 'c' . . . " - sometimes wish I had a simpler name but then, as my beloved puts it: "you wouldn't be you, would you - if you weren't you?
Hmmm - run that by me again? :?
