Tracks you wish they had never recorded

I just don't get this dislike of "cover tracks" in the 1980s. The Shadows have always recorded covers of vocals and instrumentals.

How about:

1963: Adios Muchachos, Granada, Las Tres Carabelas, The Breeze and I, Valencia

There are some great tracks here. If you don't like covers, what did you do in the 1960s when you placed your plastic album on the Dansette? Did you constantly have to lift the needle and move on to the next track?

"The Frightened City" wasn't really a cover, maybe only of the film version. "I Only Want To Be With You" and "Prelude In E Major" were actually originals. The title of the first one was also from one of Dusty Springfield's hits and the second from one of Bach's compositions.

I may be wrong about "Frightened City" but I believe that it was written by Norrie Paramor for the film before the Shadows recorded it. I think that Norrie Paramor also adapted Prelude from Bach's original. Neither was an original tune when the Shadows recorded them.

I don't think the issue is whether the track is a cover or not,it is whether it makes a good instrumental,and some clearly do while others don't.

I get it perfectly - you just named a load of tunes that the Shadows covered in their early days and 95% are terrific instrumentals. Why are you comparing those with what is by comparison, rubbish on the eighties albums.
You know what, maybe I should keep my opinions to myself and let you lot get on with it . . . .
