May be that my brain is slow enough, so I am not affected by strobe effects !

I'd just like to add my two-penneth - the whole digital revolution is a CON! No digital method of recording either picture or sound is superior to analogue recording or old fashioned film. Listen to some original 50's recordings on the original master tapes and I guarantee you'll want it back! It's same with digital cameras - even a good 35mm camera can outperform the most expensive digital one in terms of resolution. Older cameras that use larger format film or glass plates are even more superior - I know - I have a small 4cm x 4cm print of my great grand parents and I can blow it up and see the detail on the buttons in his jacket!

No - digital is a CON! It's all about making money and making you believe you've got something better than it really is!

I totally agree with you Terry regarding the recording and the taking of photographs. I think that the digital transmission of TV programmes is where the improvement possibly is, though I don't know for certain. :)

I also agree totally. About size of equipment and the digital era: Nowadays, there are mobile phones, or rather "Smartphones", which are really microscopic laptops with buttons, which can only be operated with tweezers, with build-in computer operating system, MP3 functionality and also a "HD-camera" (!!!?). As small as people can make these devices, a small loudspeaker ALWAYS SOUNDS SHITTY and vision on a small display ALWAYS LOOKS TERRIBLE! In this case it IS the size that counts (no pun intended)! (Apologies for the choice of words).
I have a Sony digital Mini-DV camcorder with Hi-Fi stereo sound recording and 16:9 widescreen picture, standard definition. I must say the sound and particular the picture are alright, but despite being digital, very very small distortion is still visible. Before I bought this camera, I sometimes used a Sony Hi-8 analogue camcorder borrowed from friends, also with Hi-Fi stereo sound recording and 4:3 picture. I must admit that camera also had quite good sound and picture quality.
