D IN LOVE?

Postby Geoff Alderton LH » 19 Sep 2010, 20:59

Hi all.
As usual, I went to Shadowmania with a vinyl LP wants list in the head. Top of my list was an LP with the track D IN LOVE on it. I did not and still do not know the title of the LP, or if one does exist. The young man on Leo's Den said yes, like me, he thought it was on an LP and if I gave him half on hour he would see if he had it, or if not look on their track list to find out the LP title. I thanked him and walked accross to the second lot of LP's for sale in the lobby. I had a good look through all his Cliff and The Shadows LP's he had in the boxes. but no luck. The gentlman running the stall, again like me, and the genleman on the Leo's Den stall, thought the track was on one of Cliff's earley LP's but didnt know the name.
Back across to my man at Leo's Den, who had been through all the Cliff the LP's he had on the stall but with no luck.Their track list showed D IN LOVE on an LP titled One Hour With Cliff. I thanked him for the info and the effort and bought a mint copy of Cliff's Me And My Shadows from him. Its the Columbia green and gold label, MONO 33SX 1261. The vinyl is pristine not a mark on it so the visit to Leo's stall wasn't in vain. Back to my hunt for D IN LOVE.
I have looked at all the info I have, Google'd it but still come up with nothing. So at the end of all that my question is, Does D IN LOVE exist on a Cliff and The Shadows LP or is it confined to the B side of I Love You
Regards Geoff.

'D In Love' is the 'B' side of 'I Love You', not sure if it was used on an LP.

Hi Dave. I posted the D IN LOVE before I had asked my question. I pressed the wrong key on the computor, so I
pressed the edit button and completed it.
Again regards Geoff.

Geoff,

D in Love wasn't on any UK vinyl LP. However, it was on some vinyl albums issued in foreign territories. For instance, it was on a 16-track 1964 German release called Cliff's Songs (C 83652).

It's available on the double CD compilation "Do you want to dance" by Magic Records, listed at Leo's Den.

Hi Geoff,
You will find "D in Love" and many of the early songs we associate Cliff with such as - Mean Streak - Never Mind - Mumblin Mosie, 25 tracks in all
on the CD [ ROCK WITH CLIFF RICHARD] number MPF 6005 I am sure the MPF stands for Music for Pleasure.
Hope this helps, and I hope you manage to get a copy I got mine from the HMV shop, in the Cliff section.

We have the track in mono on the original single, well, actually the Dutch pressing of the single. In stereo on the 2008 8 CD box set "...And They Said It Wouldn't Last! {My 50 Years In Music}" (CD 1: "The Early Years") and on the French 2000 double CD set "Do You Want To Dance With Cliff Richard". Then, there's also a stereo count-in version of the song, which we have on the 1997 4 CD box set "The Rock 'N' Roll Years 1958-1963" (CD 2: "The Rock 'N' Roll Years 1959-1961").

Hi Ivo,
I have just, last week, bought D IN LOVE on the vinyl 7"single . I paid £5 for hopefully a record in half decent condition. There were eight on offer on ebay so I selected one that said, vinyl in excellent condition, let's hope so. I still cant find a 12" LP with the track DIL on it so I will keep looking.
Regards Geoff.
