I fully realised that the instruments advertised were not the real deal and am certainly not tempted to get one. My point really is to question a) how anyone can get away with blatantly advertising these cheap low quality items using genuine brand imaging and b) why they are allowed to advertise in this way on this site?

Thanks for the input.

I have to agree that those ads should not be appearing on this site. It might easily be seen by a newcomer here that ShadowMusic is actually endorsing these guitars. I hope no-one has been fooled into parting with hard-earned cash because of this misconception.

I dont think we're getting the ADMIN side of things here.
Where are the ads coming from and who decides on their suitablity?
Clearly ads for guitars coming on to OUR site could be viewed as being endorsed by the Forum and I am sure that they are not.
Will we be getting rid of them??
cheers

Re: advertising please read this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3480

As far as this specific ad is concerned, under normal use the ads are selected by Google using keywords based on the content of the site or page.

It is possible to block certain advertisers, categories of ads or specific content from being included but this would obviously require me to investigate every ad that appears and since different ads appear in different places as selected by the Google robot it would be a full time occupation to do so.

It's a tad late in the day now to do anything about it, I shall look into it in further detail tomorrow and post a message accordingly.

Bob.

Update: I have blocked all ads from tradetang.com, or at least I think I have. If anyone spots one in the future please let me know as well as any other ads which you feel are unsuitable for inclusion in this site.

Thanks Bob. I think it would help if more people donated even a small amount to the site. My problem is that I can't remember when I donated last and we don't get annual reminders. Is there any way to check one's donations (apart from the obvious one of making a note of it for oneself!)?

There's nothing in place on this site at present. The only thing you could do is check your PayPal account to see when you last made a donation.

I'll look into the possibility of providing a means on this site to look up a donation history.

Bob.

It's just a cheap lookalike.
