LET'S GET THE FACTS RIGHT....as you obviously know everything...

The Fabulous Shadows played on the 2nd October Jet played a week later with Marty on the 7th October.
Cliffs Birthday party was celebrated at The Dorchester on Saturday July 3rd private invitation only and raised a lot of money for The Karon Keeting cancer fund..among the guests were Gloria Hunniford DJ Mike Reid Bill Latham ( Cliffs manager but you already know that) and Rod Stewart.....
Jet was going to play with us on Saturday 2nd October but unfortunatley could not.

Why do you people insist on making comments on subjects you know nothing about and stating so called facts when you were not even present at the event.....
All we have done was attend Cliffs birthday bash, put on and play a really good show on the Isle of Wight, thank everybody who was concerned .....raise money for The Alzheimer's Society......and what do you lot do......slate us ...insinuate we are liars and bad mouth our show........same old story....
Well thanks for the support...so called SHADOWS FANS....this is why we never come to your clubs and play.
The only thing we have in common is the music...and you even have a go at that...how sad because life is too short.

I'd have thought that attending 'our' clubs was a good way of meeting fellow Shadows fans and setting the record straight on a personal level.

Talking to people face to face is an excellent opportunity to overcome any antagonism.

You'll be more than welcome at the Seaford Club on 31st - it is your local club.

You are quite right Ritchy, the same old story everytime you post. As a member of a playing group 'Shadows style', we also perform for charity and I know that the various charities that benefit, are very grateful and the plus for us, is playing the music we love. Keep it up and don't waste your time posting here for the plonkers to read.

I'm not going to contribute to the subject of this thread except to politely warn members that if this thread goes the way of other similar threads it is going to disappear.

If I find a flame war has broken out when I get home in the morning I shall delete it without warning.

Why the censorship, Bob?

If people feel strongly about something let them express it - it can be done politely and with respect but if anyone wants to do otherwise let them be seen for what they are!

As someone once said "I may not agree with what you say, but I defend to the death your right to say it"

Kind regards to all.

There's no problem with discussions and expression, that's what this site is for. But when the thread degenerates into personal attacks, name calling, sarcasm and that which most members left behind in the playground it exceeds what I find acceptable.

The previous incarnation of ShadowMusic was full of such things which occurred almost weekly and was, frankly, a joke. So far, I'm happy that they have been very few and far between on this site and I am keen on keeping it that way.

To ensure that happens I will post a message when I see the warning signs. Last time, my warning was ignored and the entire thread had to be deleted (not by me). I would prefer not to see that happen again.

Actually, Bob, that's not the case - though we did have our moments. :o

As the founder of ShadowMusic, I am very keen to see this incarnation go from strength to strength - and survive after we are all long gone - because the music is worth it, and its place in the history of popular culture should be secured. On that basis, I would ask members who feel unrestrained comment is called for ( ) to use email and PMs and use the boards for more musical endeavours...

Mr Dave Martin...finally...thank you....
I could not agree more the music must live on and that is our point without the memory there is nothing....when you can not remember who you are or where you have been or even your loved ones, life has gone and it is the long slow goodbye that is The Alzheimer's disease....for a small minute in time you may hear and remember two or three bars of Apache and you were back in reality in 1960 for that second.... one smile....then your gone .....its over....
We will never forget the fantastic music from Cliff Richard and The Shadows.....The Fabulous Shadows certainly never will and we will keep on playing live, raising awarness and money for our cause....
love us or hate us we make no apologies for playing the music of The Shadows ..if you want to join us email us http://www.thefabulousshadows.co.uk .... join in your welcome..we are doing our bit...Dave Martin is doing his...what you doing!

Although I play in a tribute band for financial gain, I too play with fellow Shads fans in a couple of charity bands and have pleased the attendees from the Leonard Cheshire home in Brampton, Cambs no end. To see a person in a wheelchair mouthing every word of every song is so gratifying when you know she does not speak a word.
Equally, to raise money for the local church of a friend is just as satisfying.
So regardless of what your cause may be enjoy the experience.
