Hi Keith. I did speak to Eric regarding not being able to set up the 6 as a 4 and he said there is no reason this cant be done as any combination can be used.
Anyway it looks like I have a lot of knob twiddling and tweaking to do and most important, keeping a record of the twiddling and tweaking.
Regards Geoff.

There's a lot of mis-information being given about these machines. With respect I do believe that 'pilot error' is mainly to blame for any dis-satisfaction. One does need to understand echo patterns to set it up - without that understanding it can sound horrendous.

I originally had the ESE Echomatic six head machine to evaluate, but after having an in depth conversation with it's creator Eric Snowball, I opted for the less expensive four head machine on his advice when he demonstrated how to set up the Shads echoes on the six head machine, then told me that those same settings were achievable on the four head version. I returned the six head to him and he promptly sent me the four head version which I set up to my satisfaction and never looked back, buying it the following week.
There are many who have heard my four head ESE and have commented on the authentiicity of the sound. It has the warmth, depth of echo and the 'distress' on the tail of the echo that is heard on Hank's early recordings - I love it. One of the best examples of someone who gets the best from his ESE Echomatic, is Terry Devon - I have never heard him NOT get THAT SOUND.:)

Hi Dave. One of the reasons I got the ESE is your live sound. I have said it previously that your live sound, Ref the Eckington gig, is that sound. Its a super piece of kit. So its down to me to make it work, although any tips would be apreciated.

Many thanks to all Hankies for making Dan Toft and myself feel welcome last night. We both really enjoyed the evening, and hope to be back with you again soon.
