The Gibson looks like an ES125, or maybe an ES125C - and even then, it had to be ten or eleven years old, minimum (because of the "old" script logo). Clearly, the picture dates from the period approximately January 1959 to when the red Strat arrived.

I bet that when people hear these live tracks, they will want Antoria guitars and Selmer amps...

I played an Antoria guitar in Scarth's - remember that shop near Leicester Square? It was probably the worst guitar I have ever played! Nothing wrong with Selmer amps though, had a Selectortone driving 2 Jensen Blue speakers, which was quite loud for the time.

Yes, I remember Scarth's... west side of Charing Cross Road, not far south of Cambridge Circus. Always had an interesting mixture of instruments on display, not only guitars, but also banjos, mandolins, balalaikas, etc.

I have now had sight of another picture from the same session - different angle. It's definitely a Gibson ES-125 (1 pickup, no cutaway).

I would have thought Cliff's first LP (live) would have already done that, or other studio tracks that Hank played on prior to the arrival of the Strat....Jet Black, Dritin', Living Loving Doll, Never Mind etc.... (Barry Gibson obviously thinks so )....
