Hi Stuart.
34346 Stuart is a 1959 Stratocaster. When Cliff bought the guitar it came with a very nice birdseye maple neck. Apart from this its a stock 59 Strat
All the info for 59 Strats can be found by typing Fender 1959 Stratocaster into Google and you will get every bit of info you are looking for.
Good luck with your project.
Regards Geoff.

Hi again Stuart
If you send me a PM with your address I have a spare copy of Duchossoir's book The Fender Stratocaster. This will give you a lot of info on the 59 Srat.
Regards Geoff.

Hi Again.
David, dont forget the flush G,B and E flush poles on the pickup's. Late 50's neck are known to be rounder and flatter than earlier necks and became extremely flat in 59, this is refering to the back of the neck profile.
Regards Geoff.

If 34346 is female, this must be like a public gynaecological examination for her....

She is legendary- show a bit of respect for her please ;)

s4wgb wrote:Thank you David for the link to the specs.Just was wondering it says Top grade birds eye maple,is that 1/4 sawn or just as it says? Not AA or AAA or flame? Justin had quoted that Hank has hie finger board made flatter, how flat is does he have it now? Many thanks

According to Howard who was party to Hank's use of the 50th Anni on the tour, no modification was made to the guitar at all, despite other statements...

The neck is as stated ... birdseye, not flame...

The spec is here viewtopic.php?f=21&t=173&hilit=CRS+59&start=70 including details of pole pieces...
