I think there is something not quite right when people try and assume the identity of others.

Pedro, then I take it you are not a fan of tribute shows?

Thanks for sharing this link from a local TV station.

I am afraid I feel the same as Pedro.
I saw Jimmy some 15 years ago or so in Holland and found it spooky to look at him.. from a distance he looked very much like CLiff only smaller.
I didn't attend Cliff the Musical, nor have I bought tickets for this show.
As long as Cliff is still alive and Kicking I don't feel like going to someone who isn't the real one...
When I spoke with Jimmy years ago he sounded different (more like his own I guess) when hearing him talk on this clip I 'felt a little 'uncomfortable' I mean why do you want to sound like him when doing an interview as well? (my humble opinion of course). Wanting to sound like him when doing a tribute show/act is one thing but when doing an interview?... no that goes a little too far for my liking.
Having said all the above... I have heard great reviews from fans who did attend the show.

I don't mind if a singer sings Elvis or Cliff as long as they don't try to sound like them.
It was the sound I ment. Jimmy sounds lot like Cliff, when he talks, but he don't have the "music" in his voice when he sings - as Cliff has.

Thanks Angelique. I could not have put it any better.

I believe HBM has said many times that one should at least be yourself. The Black Horn rim glasses etc are a little weird.

What better compliment could you recieve than to hear you actually sound just like HBM but, to sport the glasses etc, etc. Well???

Frankly, NO.

I have been a life long fan of HBM and that's it.

To be honest when I met Jimmy Jemain at Shadowmania a few years ago, I felt embarrassed for him how he was mincing around acting and talking to sensible people as though he was Cliff Richard - We all thought he was ridiculous and agreed that he was most certainly 'affected'. If you listen to the clip without looking at him it just sounds like some guy singing a Cliff song - no more & no less. :|

This puts me in mind of the Australian ABBA tribute band, Bjorn Again, who talk in fake Swedish accents when interviewed- although I think they do that with their tongues firmly in their cheeks...

I liked the story of how they met Bjorn Ulvaeus, and he told them 'You can all sing and play well, you look good- so why not do your own thing and write your own material?'

And Hank asking some years ago 'why do you all want to be parrots?'...

I admit I have played with a Shads tribute band, most recently a few weeks ago- I played rhthym guitar, so I was covering Bruce's role as such- but I didn't wear a Bruce wig on the stage, or walk around backstage or mix with the crowd in the theatre foyer talking like, acting like or pretendiing to BE Bruce...

Hero worship and idolatry will always be some people's aim I suppose- imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as the saying goes...but I worry that it can go too far sometimes..dressing up and performing in a show is one thing, but pretending to BE that artist or group off-stage or everyday even if off duty...oooh, that's a bit extreme- suggests schizophrenia or psychotic personality problems perhaps?
