ANY VOX MODELLING SOFTWARE OUT THERE?

Postby Stratpicker » 18 Dec 2010, 14:25

Hi All
anyone who has heard my SFs will know I use a tiny Korg Ampworks amp modeller for my Vox amp tone. It works great.
BUT - is there any software out there that I can DL into my PC and use as a "virtual" amp through my soundcard somehow.
I'd be grateful for any info.
cheers

Ian

A few spring to mind such as Amplitude and Line6 Amp Farm and Vox JamVox and Zoom do amp models as well. Trouble with amp modelling is some companies have better models and then what channels of the amps are modelled ? I think the ampworks by Korg is good and if you have that cannot see any advantage in going to some DSP software as opposed to DSP hardware ! The Vox Tonelabs are great units for hardware models and the Vox amps are in there and also POD's are very good (Ihave both :D ) . Lots of thoughts and choices but you need to make em !

Hi Ian

I use Guitar Rig 4 and I think its excellent.

I think you can download a demo from the Native Instruments site.

I have not tried the Pod stuff and I don't like Amplitube, but it's all
down to personal preference.

Try it and judge for yourself.

Morning Ian,

The other way around for me.... I exclusively use Amplitube 3 for all of my recorded guitars. I am not a fan of Native Instruments stuff at all (Guitar Rig 4) - but as Alan says - it is all very subjective. The other one you may want to take a look at is 'Eleven' by Avid. This is an extensive and authentic modeller available in both software - http://www.avid.com/US/products/Eleven - and a really great hardware rack version - http://www.avid.com/US/products/Eleven-Rack

Incidentally - there is a free version of 'Eleven' in Protools 8 and later...

With the recent resurgence of VOX though - I don't think it will be too long before they choose to enter the software market with their own product...

Best always

Tony.
