Probably seeing Lonnie Donegan on Sunday Night at The London Palladium. Later of course The Shads. Got a record player in 1961 and the first two records that I bought were The Hunters' The Storm and The Shadows' Kon-Tiki - quickly followed by the EPs: Shadows to the Fore and The Shadows. All this plus seeing Cliff and The Shadows on the Palladium spurred me on to getting a guitar (together with the obligatory 'Play-in-a Day') and subsequently joining my first group at the end of 1962. I actually bought Bert Weedon's China Doll (still have it), which was the theme music to (I think) TV's Five O'Clock Club.
Martin.
