Main entertainment is "Life Story" (5 piece family band, ) who are travelling up from Shefield & Lincoln to play, it's a great chance to see & hear live Shadows music

It's Sat 15th,in a good venue (real ale in the bar from £1.70) with plenty of parking & very easy access from the A1M (3 miles)

Would be great to see any of you who would be able to attend

A tad too far for me, Peter, but all who go will have a great time. Life Story have a really good drummer!
I hope you can come west a bit again soon.

Just a bit of an update on last night's "do"

A handful of local "muso's" in the bar for an hour or two with everything from Folk, Blues, Country (& even a little "twang") set things up nicely for Life Story in the main hall.

What a great band led by Peter, the Creasy family played a super 2 sets of mainly Shads with a couple of vocal numbers, all delivered with a style & professionalism that is very rare these days.

The sound from Peters Fender amp (& GT EFTP unit) was at times stunning to hear. .
I lost count of the number of people wanting to know where they were playing next, & I believe the band are considering some offers for later in the year to return to the NE.

The evening was mainly for family & friends of Gary so was not promoted outside the local area but, if they are able to return in April they will certainly be playing to a large audience in a big venue in the local town (Chester-le-Street)

On the night almost £500 was raised & along with other donations etc... to come in it was a great success.

Still can't believe that Life Story were able to attend at only a few weeks notice, great band, but more importantly, nice people as well.

A big, big thank you to Life Story from Gary & his family & all of us at the Beamish Arms

Dick.

Just back from "Oop North (East)" after a busy weekend.
A LOVELY gig - and thanks to Dick ("Twang46") for asking us to get involved - and for the kind comments in his earlier post. Gary Duncan - whose recovery fund benefitted from the efforts of all the people there - is a truly "nice Guy" who deserves all the support he can get. "Life Story" were delighted to assist in a small way.
Got back to our "digs" just after midnight, when Dave (my Son and our rhythm guitarist) blagged him and me a "Lock-in" in the Bar - Pete, Kim and Lottie were FAR too sensible to get involved - and we finally retired to bed after 2am after trying a few of the excellent single malts on offer, and a good old gossip with the Barman. After a few hours shuteye, Dave and me then travelled to the Railway Museum at Shildon where we spent the rest of the day ogling the exhibits there (e.g.Prototype Deltic - almost as sexy as Christina Rihanoff!) HIGHLY recommended!
One thing is for sure - you Guys 'n Gals in North-East England REALLY know how to party!! We even got our "Troupe of Dancing Girls" (see the "My Way" thread)!
Thanks for making us so welcome, and even for suggesting that we might make a return visit in a month-or-two.
Regards
Paul

Thanks for your kind words Dick, it was a pleasure to help out and to see some of the local 'musos' doing heir bit.
If the hospitality is an example of people in the north east then here's hoping we will be able to come up again in April.
We are always willing to use our hobby to help folks if we can and it was a privilege to meet Gary and his family, great people.
Our thanks to the folks at the Beamish who looked after us so well
Take care
