Hi All i know it's off topic but does anybody know the chance of George Tomsco or the Fireballs doing any gigs in the UK? Cat in hell's chance seem to spring to mind, but one can only hope!

Nothing at the moment as far as I know (does George even operate as The Fireballs any more?).

But you might be interested to know that the great Gary "US" Bonds will be in the UK around the end of January for a lengthy tour between 1st February and 26th March. Gary it was who had a hit with New Orleans around 1960/1961 and he was the originator of the song Quarter To Three, played and sung by The Shadows at the 1962 ABC Theatre (Kingston) concert which was released on CD some years ago. The Shads' version of the song was also performed by The Rapiers at a Shadowmania a couple of years back.

Gary's UK appearances will be at:

Wavendon (Bucks), Warrington, Lincoln, Potters Bar, Chatham, Yeovil, Horsham, Hull. Rhyl, Stevenage, Blackpool, Lichfield, Glenrothes, New Brighton, Basingstoke, Ipswich, London, Reading, Northampton, Harlow, Redditch, Dudley, Lowestoft, Newcastle, Leicester, Bolton, Skegness, Batley, Shrewsbury, Cannock, Tunbridge Well, Barrow-in-Furness, Fareham, Bognor Regis, St Albans, Barnstaple, Birmingham, Derby, Christchurch, Clacton, Hopton-on-Sea (where?), King's Lynn, Brecon, Gravesend and a leisure centre in Sussex.

PS: Also on the same tour is legendary artiste Ben E King.

George Tomsco was over in the UK back in 2006 when (backed by Mike Vernon's 3 Balls of Fire - who were superb) he headlined at Pipeline and played 15 Fireballs' classics. He was on fantastic form and what a genuinely modest and lovely guy this great guitarist was. You can order the fantastic DVD of Pipeline 2006. Well worth it.

Best wishes,

Rob :)

Hi All,
For Pipeline DVDs (mostly 2 DVD sets, plus informative booklets) you need to contact Ray Liffen ( a member of this site ) for further information - PM Ray from this site.

Best wishes - Rob :D (Edited by RB)

PS: There are Pipeline DVDs available for many other years too (certainly at least 1998 - 2010). They are all magnificent & well worth having.

On the DVD, George Geddes does the introduction to George Tomsco, who is so pleased with the compliments that he pulls out his billfold and starts putting money into George's hand! After Rob's kind words, maybe I should do the same!

Without wishing to make this thread too 'commercial', let me just explain that Pipeline 2006 is a double-DVD (with performances by The Flames, Bob Spalding of The Ventures, The 1960s Rapiers and The Surfin Gorillas in addition to George Tomsco and the Three Balls Of Fire). As 'back catalogue' the price is only £20 (including P&P). If anyone is interested, send me a PM.

Please could my email address in Rob's message be removed? There are nasty folk out there who trawl the internet for addresses that they can add to those spam databases for Viagra, fortunes in Nigeria, sexy Russion girlfriends, etc

Hi Ray,
I don't know myself how to remove the email address (apologies if I've inadvertently compromised you!!!) - but that message itself could also be deleted - but one of the moderators or assistant moderators would have to do it. They have my full permission - so hopefully someone will oblige quite soon. Meantime - yes 2006 was a vintage Pipeline Convention. If there are any other Instrumental fans reading this - then that particular DVD is well worth getting!!!

Best wishes,

Rob :D

Absolutely support what has been said about that year's convention. As well as playing great guitar, GT was an absolutely great guy - very down to earth and friendly...

And check elsewhere for details of this year's convention!
