Hi folks,

Juat a wee thing thats came to mind. Recently I've been watching re runs of the Professionals on ITV2. Has anyone else ever spotted the similarity between Lewis Collins and John when Lewis was playing Bodie?
I will be very interested in your replies to this one!!

Cheers, Ian

Believe it or not...

A friend of mine, also into the Shads and The Professionals, commented on just that fact a few months ago!!!!!

We were watching that clip from Pop Go The 60s, the Shads with Tony Meehan playing Apache, and Darren said, "Doesn't John Rostill look like Lewis Collins?!!" So, there you go!

I was, and still am, a huge fan of The Professionals and have about half the eps on video and DVD. It comes in for a great deal of criticism, unfairly I think, as it was a hugely entertaining show, never meant to be realistic, but miles ahead of the dross we have to put up with now. Thankfully it's still fondly remembered by many - myself included.

And, yes, I did have long sideburns and an old army jacket when I was in my teens!!!!! :D

Over and out!

Whatever happened to Lewis Collins - his opo's been seen in all sorts of stuff since those days and seems to have done very well but I don't believe I've seen Lewis in anything else?

The last i heard he was running a computer software company in America.
He's mainly retired from acting. He was sick of being offered stereotyped roles as a tough guy.

That's because Martin Shaw is a proper actor with vast experience in everything from Shakespeare to quasi-soap (I first remember him from the 1973 Thames TV serial "Helen, A Woman Of Today", playing Helen's errant husband), but he had done rep and classical theatre. He was even in the infamous 1971 Roman Polanski film version of "Macbeth" (as Banquo).

Lewis Collins, for all his undoubted merits, is artistically lightweight by comparison. I remember him in "The Bill" a few years ago (playing the villain, as guest actors usually did). Never mind John Rostill - he sailed through the part treating it as an impression of Roger Moore at his eyebrow exercising best.
