At the risk of taking the thread off topic, what were your top 50?

Michael

Here it is,

CD1 :

01 Apache
02 Man of mystery
03 The stranger.
04 Mustang
05 Theme from Shane
06 Shotgun
07 Theme from Giant
08 F.B.I.
09 Midnight
10 The frightened city
11 Back home
12 Kon-Tiki
13 36-24-36
14 Shadoogie
15 Blue star
16 Gonzales
17 Find me a golden street
18 My resistance is low
19 Sleepwalk
20 Big boy
21 Peace pipe
22 The savage
23 Wonderful land
24 Sweet dreams
25 The rumble
26 Cosy
27 1861
28 Perfidia
29 South of the border
30 Spring is nearly here
31 Tales of a raggy tramline

CD2 :

32 Foot tapper
33 Round and round
34 Les girls
35 Atlantis
36 Geronimo
37 Shazam
38 Theme for young lovers
39 The rise and fall of Flingel Bunt
40 The lost city
41 The flyder and the spy
42 Return to the Alamo
43 Walk don't run
44 Don't cry for me Argentina
45 Equinoxe V
46 Thing-me-jig
47 Riders of the range
48 Memory
49 Going home
50 Moonlight shadow
51 The power of love
52 Nights in white satin
53 Bilitis
54 Life story

As you can see, there is a little more than 50 tracks, as I selected what would fit on two CDs, and the tracks are more or less in chronological order.
I did this compilation in 2008, may be if was was doing it again, there would be a very few differences.

Thanks Didier,

In terms of my taste and for what it is worth I wouldn't change your CD1. Spot on.

I would change your CD2 to

34 Les girls
35 Atlantis
36 Geronimo
37 Shazam
38 Theme for young lovers
39 The rise and fall of Flingel Bunt
40 The lost city
41 The flyder and the spy
42 Return to the Alamo
43 Little Princess
44 Mountains of the Moon
45 Equinoxe V
46 Thing-me-jig
47 Riders of the range
48 Memory
49 Going home
50 Chu Chi
51 Friends
52 Another Night
53 Cat ‘n’ Mouse
54 Spider Juice
.
I didn't keep the order because I was trying to work out what I would substitute. It's a difficult exercise.

I would also add a track or two from the albums "Jigsaw" and "From Hank, Bruce, Brian And John" and, dare I say, one or two from "Shades Of Rock". I also admit, it's an absolutely difficult task to choose tracks to fill just two CD's of around 79 or 80 minutes of music each, as I have so many, many favourites.

It's not a difficult task, it's an impossible task to limit the best of the Shadows to only two CDs, even with 80 minutes CDs !...

Very well put. I still had to leave off some of their gems found on Specs Appeal and Rockin' with Curly Leads and ..... to get the list down to 2 CD's
