John Rostill on bass on " Cliff Goes East " ?

Postby Peter K » 05 Oct 2009, 07:56

Hi,

since buying this album back in the Seventies I'm wondering who the bass player is on this record. I know that Hank Marvin,
John Farrar and Brian Bennett are playing with Cliff but the sleeve notes of the album don't reveal who was on bass guitar.
I remember reading in some music magazine that John Rostill was actually playing on this tour and that his name is not featured because of contractual reasons ( still contracted to Tom Jones ? ).
Does anybody know if this is true and if it was not John Rostill, who was on bass ?

Regards Peter K

The bass player on these recordings is Alan Tarney. Trevor Spencer plays percussion and Alan Hawkshaw piano and organ or electric piano.

Quote from Mike Read`s book The Story of The Shadows ,In September (1972) Marvin& Farrar toured the Far East with Cliff and Olivia, taking John Rostill and Brian Bennett. So is this inacurate? Did John Rostill ever play bass in the Marvin ,Welch,Farrar period ,if he did this would have been a Shadows line up of sorts

John Rostill did not perform with MWF or MF.
