MAN OF MYSTERY-the middle bit - Tutorial ??

Postby Stratpicker » 05 Feb 2011, 12:19

Has any one ever done a SLO MO tuturial on the right way to play the middle bit in M O M? That is the ORIGINAL version of M O M.
There has to be a special way to use certain fingers. I find that getting the 13th fret second string in that run hard to do and it SOUNDS so easy.
Even a written description of how its done whould be useful.
cheers

There is no tutorial on this as far as I'm aware, so you need to do it the way I had to do it and listen over and over and you'll eventually work it out. I'm afraid it's t's called hard work. The point is if you really want to do it, put the time in - it's the ONLY way. ;)

There is a program called Amazing Slow Downer from Ronimusic (google it) with a free download trial version, Play your CD in your PC and trigger the start and end of the section that you want to hear and you can slow it down without losing pitch to very acceptable levels so that you can hear each note which is played. You will of course need to determine whether you play it around the 12th fret or the 16th. ;)

Hi
Have you looked at the DVD by Lick Library 'Learn to play Hank Marvin' played by Lee Hodgson. It breaks down the Whole of M.O.M and is not far off being accurate.
Hope this helps!

Slockaticktockapringles !!

If I do this is there anything else you want like FBI or summat while I've got it set up ?
If I promise to then you will have to say that Jeff Beck is your favourite guitarist and you don't like pink strats when you next see me.

And eat a whole cob.

with jam and cheese on.
and curry paste

Ah Mr Knee Capper,
Nope - that would do nicely. I agree with Robbo's point and hard work is not a problem. The problem is that the way I play it I have a devil of a job hitting that 13th fret second string each time . I get the notes but it s not fluent. There must be a finger trick to it. Maybe I'm using the wrong finger and it wouldnt be the first time I've heard that!!
I cant say Jeff Beck is the best guitarist in the world. Some may say he's second only to you! And I've got a Fiesta Red Strat that "some " people MAY think is Pink. Its not as pink as your one was anyway. 8-) I can eat a cob any time, provided its not hurled at me like a projectile from 15 feet away   Will that do?
cheers
