texas specials fender custom shop

hi another pickup question. would the texas special strat p/us by fender custom shop be any good for shads marvin 60`s type music thet rate neck 6.2k middle 6.5k bridge 6.50k. got a chance of some at a good price. thanks peter

Hi Peter,
I have a Jap 'Custom '62' Tele with a pair of Texas Special tele pickups in it, & it sounds great. I would say that Texas Specials are rated to be slightly higher powered than our normal 'vintage spec' pickups which usually rate at around 5.6k to 6.2k . The Texas Specials aren't too far out of that range, so I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you are getting a bargain price. They will drive a valve amp a little harder with a bit more gain, but they're not exactly heavy metal.
