Cardiff On Fire

Hi All
Just got up after a late night to see the show in Cardiff. I must say the whole show was terrific. Having heard the new CD on which I think Cliff sounds a bit restrained and read some of the reviews of the early concerts I wasn't expecting too much. Boy was I wrong. In my opinion the whole gang were on fire last night but especially Cliff. That was the best concert I have seen for a long while. Of course the sound wasn't "that sound" but it was excellent. We had seats in the middle of the back terrace. Whilst being a long way back it did give us a great view and perfect sound balance. I shall be on a high for days now. I hope the rest of the tour is as good.

I was there too, and have to agree. The whole show was superb.

On a side note to those going to Cardiff in 2 week's time. There's a bit of an issue with regards parking as the multi-storey next to the arena has been demolished, and is currently a building site. Took me about 45 minutes to find somewhere to park!

I agree with Ben. It was great; sound, lighting, screens all well managed. We were one row back from the front and on Hank's side so perfect for me and with no dancers in front. What a show from these veterans . I hope they can keep up the pace . Cliff's voice held out for the whole performance and The Shads were majestic in both instrumental and vocal support. I heartily concur with all the positive reviews of these concerts and, as has been said, the programme is a work of art and meticulous research.

For those still undecided my advice is you must take the opportunity to see this great professional band rightly and proudly celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Who would have thought in 1959 that we would all still be enjoying that music peformed by the original artists 50 years on?

I couldn't agree more - a concert to go down as a great. Well worth the 200 mile journey !!!

No problem with standing Cliff fans, indeed one woman who tried to stand and dance was politely told by a steward to sit down or get out !! No problem with the encore, though, the entire audience stood and danced for the three numbers.

I've attached a few photos as a momento for those at Cardiff, a reminder for those who have been to other concerts and a little taster for those yet to go (you won't be disappointed!). I'll try and put some more in the Gallery section later.

Mrs T & I are now wondering if we can afford a holiday in NZ next March to see it all again !!

Those photos are excellent! Mind you, the one drawback I found with the screens was that I tended to look at them rather than the actual performers on stage! Seems a lot of money to go and watch TV for three hours!!! Seriously, the screens are great and provide us with the kind of views that would be impossible otherwise - especially useful for those seated a long way from the stage. I suppose with theatres it isn't really necessary, but with arenas it certainly is. In Sheffield next week I suspect that I will be grateful for the screens - considering where our seats are!!!



As for dancing in the aisles. Went to the Nottingham gig last week and, towards the end, there were hundreds of people crowding to the front of the stage and dancing, etc... Personally it didn't bother me and it seemed to add to the already electric atmosphere, but I can understand why it must annoy some people, especially those who cannot stand up. We stood up for the last three songs, but only because we had no choice. Everyone around us seemed to be doing likewise and everyone seemed quite happy. An amazing gig, as they all seem to be. Roll on next Wednesday!!!

It doesn't matter that people are standing and dancing for the encore.
The whole arena stood up inThe O2 the 25th September to the encore. I guess it was our way to pay tribute to a great show, and say thank you for many years of entertainment.
It gave me goose bump to be among more than 15000 people - standing, dancing, singing and clapping through all three numbers.
It was amazing. I sure look forward to Copenhagen on 21st November.

Cardiff was amazing,even my disabled wife got up and did her best to dance during the encore.
I am still high as a kite with emotions.My 13 year old son thoroughly enjoyed it ,despite not wanting to come,as he had attended the 2004 concert in the CIA and can be seen on the DVD covering his ears

I am very tempted to try and get a ticket for the 20th.

An outstanding show.Good sound good lighting and a very very professional performance.A big thank you to all those people at the show for staying sat down. What a difference.You could see and hear everything that went on.My seat - central stalls mid way back. My only gripe. £2.50 for a small bottle of 7up. Come on CIA dont rip people off , if the price was a bit lower ,you would probably sell a lot more.That is the only gripe. Great program a real bargain . So heres to my next show. We will rock you in Bristol this Friday.

The Liverpool gig was just fantastic. Both Cliff and the Shads on top form. Forget all the discussions about pick ups, amps, beats per minute, 'that sound' etc etc - just enjoy it! A privilege to be there. Can't believe we may never see them live in concert again.
