The Bee Gees - I Want You To Want Me

Postby Bruce Cramley » 02 Mar 2011, 13:13

I just came across this clip of very young Bee Gees doing the Shads' "I Want You To Want Me" in 1964.

Bruce, Sydney.

That's an interesting mock-stereo effect on the audio. Clearly done more recently.

JN

PS: Surely they'd have been better as a George Formby tribute band? Or even (in the case of one of them) doing an impersonation of Ken Dodd*?

1. They made up for their looks with TALENT.

2. The lead guitarist was possibly John Farrar (with the Strangers) who played on many of their earlier recordings in Australia before their success in in the UK and USA.

I agree John. They were amazingly talented performers and excellent songwriters. My husband has always been a big fan and as a result I've heard a lot of their lesser known songs too and they really are brilliant. I remember hearing George Martin speak very highly of them too and think it's a shame that sometimes people only know them from the disco era. Also they grew up in and around Brisbane which is a nice bit of history for us :)
Best wishes

Hi,

Strange nobody mentionned this is a Shadows's tune written by Hank Marvin.
