Dick Plant will be chuffed . . . as the composer of 'Hammerhead'. ;)

Great tune, 'How Do I Love Thee', and fairly easy to play. Excellent backing track, too, on Renato Vignocchi's Vol.6 CD from Leo's Den.

Now I'm gonna have to learn it again for the West of Wales Club meeting next Saturday...

Thanks Phil for this interestring document, but according to some sources, The Shadows toured in Australia and New-Zealand to promote the "Guardian Angel" album in 1985, not in 1984.

That's interesting. I didn't know they'd ever promoted the "Guardian Angel" LP at all. They certainly played no tracks from it during their summer 1984 UK tour.

Hi all,

The Shadows toured Australia & New Zealand in 1984 and 1985 which might have caused the confusion:
25.01.1984 to 26.02.1984 and 28.01.1985 to 22.03.1985
As the 'Guardian Angel' album was released on 10.11.1984 these two track were not played on the 1984 tour but on the 1985 one:
Riders In The Sky / The Frightened City / Atlantis / Foot Tapper / Kon-Tiki / Memory / The Day I Met Marie (v) / Shadoogie / Theme From The Deer Hunter (Cavatine) / Let Me Be The One (v) / Wonderful Land / Equinoxe (part V) / Chariots Of Fire / Rock ‘n’ Roll Medley: Lucille – Rip It Up – Blue Suede Shoes (v) / interval / Sleepwalk / The Boys / How Do I Love Thee / Hammerhead / Time Is Tight / Nivram / The Rise And Fall Of Flingel Bunt / Sacha / Dance On / You Were Always On My Mind (v) / You Won’t See Me (v) / Honourable Puff-Puff / Apache / F.B.I.

Best wishes,

Ulrich

It would be nice to hear the live version of The Boys!

And also "Sacha"! This was, I think, the only tour on which The Shadows played Hank's Australian number 1, live.

We think this is one of the best Shadows recordings ever made. We're amazed that folks in the UK don't seem to know about the Guardian Angel album, which we think is the best one they've ever done.

George Lewis and I recorded our version of Hammerhead for our CD Hammerhead. Here it is:

The Hammerhead CD is available on the OzzieTrax website at

and from Leos' Den at

The individual BT for Hammerhead is available from the OzzieTrax backing tracks page at

Hi Tony- from John in Adelaide- I met you when you came over and you played keyboard with us at the Shads club a few years ago (with Ian Sanders, Ian Norman and others).

I went to one of the Shads '80's live shows in Oz, and though I think I remember them playing Sacha (a pretty obvious choice to include in the live set as it charted here), I can't recall these other two tunes.
