Hank Marvin album re-issues on CD

Postby iefje » 16 Mar 2011, 15:30

I was wondering, does anyone have the recent Hank Marvin re-issue CD "Words And Music/All Alone With Friends"? It does feature the track "Bad Cop" and also the album version of "The Trouble With Me Is You" or is it the single version with added backing vocals? Also, is the sound quality better than that of the 1991 CD issues of these albums and the 1998 CD "Another Side Of Hank Marvin"? What about the sound quality of the 3 CD box "The Best Of Hank Marvin", containing the albums "Into The Light", "Heartbeat" and "Hank Plays Cliff"?

I haven't got the new albums you refer to, Ivo, so can't answer any of your questions directly.

But with reference to the "Words And Music" and "All Alone With Friends" albums, all of those tracks have been issued on CD in the past (Pickwick / Spectrum). I'd be surprised if the contents have been re-mastered for a budget release if digital tracks were already available on file.

'Bad cop' is, indeed, on the new reissue. and I think it's the original album version on the CD

Gosh, I know something JimN doesn't 8-))))>

Can't comment on the box set as like Jim, I don't have it.

The only CD issue of this album was in 1990 on the See For Miles label. Maybe on eBay, but it's very difficult to track down. I bought my copy, new and sealed, eleven years ago. My father already owned the original 1977 UK LP.

About Hank's vocal albums, "Words And Music" is probably my favourite of the two, mainly because Brian Bennett and Alan Jones are on it and 10 of the 12 tracks were co-written by Hank.

Words & Music on PICKWICK Music PWKS 4040 (from my collection)
Innersleeve:
"Words & Music" was first released in the 80's and contain the hit single 'Don't Talk'. It features the little knows vocal talents of Shadows guitarist, Hank Marvin.

Pickwick are proud to present this album repackaged for the 90's and available for the first time on compact disc.

You can also buy the first Hank Marvin album on CD. It has all the singles (and b-sides) that Hank released solo from 1968-1970 and also has 'Evening comes' which was never released properly in the UK and is a lovely track. I think it has in total around 22 tracks and the sound quality is excellent.
