I am deeply saddened by the news of Jet's passing. He was a musical icon to me as a teenager and the outstanding face of the original Shadows line-up which thrilled us all.

I am privileged to have met him a few times and I remember well the time he gave to me, a stranger, to record an interview at a pub near his house in Gloucester in 1986. He invited me into his home afterwards and was generous enough to give me two signed copies of the album "Inside Jet Harris" recorded at Gloucester prison. He would accept no payment. What a gent.

My sincere condolences to his family.

Jet,it was you,not Hank or Bruce, that inspired me,in 1960 as a mere 10 year old,to take up the guitar(I didn't even know what a bass was!).There was just something that,to me,made you stand out from the rest. The Vince Gill song,"Go rest high on that mountain" sums it all up.

Jet,"The Originator". You were the bass player that no other bass player could ever be.

Thank you for the music.Thank you for the memories, but most of all, thanks for being you.

R.I.P

Condolences to Janet and Family

I heard the sad news in the oddest of circumstances. I was driving home after seeing another bass legend, Jack Bruce, play at Bristol's Colston Hall and I was thinking I might post a review for this forum. One cannot think of bass legends and this forum without Jet immediately coming to mind.
Just then I switched on the car radio and Geff Barker was talking about his forthcoming Saturday night "Rock & Roll Party" and, as Jet was in my thoughts, I heard Geoff say he had passed away. I could scarely believe it. So very sad.
I hope Janet takes comfort from the huge swell of sympathy and support from all of us here.

I only just heard this sad news. Jet was both a remarkable entertainer and a thoroughly down to earth guy. My thoughts are with his family.
