Please forgive my ignorance but as you can probably tell, I'm new here. What/who are Hankies? I see mention of them all over the place!

Ah Jayne
We are a disolute bunch of guitar players that live in and around the West Midlands.
Like you, Jayne, Risky and I are Mancunian by Birth and we're down here to try to convert this lot to speak proper English like what they do in Eccles.
If you read through some of the Mayhem on our Club pages you may realise why we recognised long ago that we woz on a Loser!!

Have fun reading and a good laugh!!
We firmly believe that what we do is FUN and amongst all the superb playing there are heaps of practical jokes, beermat throwing at those who get it wrong too often (Mike The Marmaliser comes to Hankies with a Riot Shield these days! ), cries of "Malcolm" to those who put on an exemplary performance and a huge choice of gear in the backline that you can beg a plug in to. (Using RogerB's Heritage AC30 is one of the highlights for me).
We arent a big club, but we do get visitors like Dave Martin, Robbo, Daniel Martin and Justin Daish, a whole crew from Doncaster once and many have been back since so we must be doing something right.
I'd be there tonight, being abused as usual and consuming cheese cobs, bahgees, samosas or whatever Keith and RogerB have brought with them BUT I'm poorly sick with the Flu and Mommy says I must stay in bed.
cheers

Aw Ian, I hope you're being well looked after?

Thank you so much for that explanation, much appreciated. Sounds like a hoot! Gutted you guys are too far away for me on a school night :( There don't seem to be any such festivities in Manchester, probably all too busy eating meat and tater pies...

You get well soon, make sure you milk it for all it's worth ;)

Ay Jayne
We still make a pan of Tater'ash every now and then. Ah Memories!
There used to be The Shaddicts club in Sale until a couple of years ago and I guess the nearest one to you now is the Congleton Club - next meeting Sunday May 15th.
I go there when we fancy the trip home (still got family in Hazel Grove so go there and eat their food afterwards!lol!) and its lots of fun too. Lots of mixed ability players (like Hankies) and LIVE band playing. No Ceremony, just all good friends and a pleaseant afternoon.
Are you a Player or a Fan? Room for ALL at Hankies OR Congleton.
cheers

Ahh taters, I remember those days of carbs... *sobs*

That's a shame, I'm not far from Sale, Chorlton-cum-Hardy lass but now living in Winton. Only place I know in Hazel Grove is the Rising Sun, not that I'm a lush or anything... Thanks for the info on the Congleton meet.

I used to play, got to grade 5, then turned 18 and opted for boys and long nails etc... soooooo stupid, lol! Other half got me a nice Fender acoustic for Christmas in the hope of encouraging me to play again, but sadly I seem to have completely forgotten how so back to scratch for me, can't even recall how to read music, doh! So just a fan for me at the moment. What about you?

I didn't even know these places existed to be honest, and it was the sad news on Friday that brought me here via Google. Must say it's lovely to see you all here, it's great to not be the only Shadows fan I know

You can't get a decent Boddies in Manchester anymore I'm afraid, they moved the brewery many years ago. Better off sticking to Holts' :D
