Hi Jim
In his first set Alan Randall played the xylophone (that I do remember). In his second set he may well have played George Formby but to this teenager sitting in the audience and waiting for Duane, the rest of the bill were just that 'old fashioned music' that you heard so much of on the Light Programme. Moss Empires had got as far as leaving out the jugglers and vent acts but 'The Taylor Maids' or 'The Four Playboys' were simply acts from the early 50s still trying to make a living on the circuit and Kathy Kirby was just a screech that had to be endured while waiting for the top of the bill.
Hope I've not offended you too much!
Ray
