I certainly noticed it, but knew nothing about which guitar it was, either at the O2 or at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

It seemed to be tuned down a tone (perhaps) - or at least, the lowest string seemed to be. And I thought it was finished in some sort of heavily limed/scraped finish with the wood grain showing through very dramatically.

So what do we (for certain values of "we") know about this Scotsman guitar, please

I know narthing.

If my memory serves me correctly, it was presented to Hank during the 2004 tour by the Scotsman newspaper, at the instigation of Ash Gupta, former leading light of the Fender Club. At least one other was offered as a proze to Scotsman readers - no, I didn't win it, I'm more of a Glasgow Herald man, anyway - and I think there was a third which may have been retained by The Scotsman. The finish is news clippings about major pop events in Scotland.

Any pictures of it, please, George?

And what do you think about the tuning on it on this tour? Below concert or not?

Cheers,

David Martin posted some links to the "Scotsman Strat" story in one of the
other concert topics!

I googled it and found an entry on Aberdeen Gumtree; someone selling one for £1900.

He said it was one of only 3 ever made and that they were mexican strats.

Another great show in Glasgow! I think it was even better today and better sound. They were really enjoying themself on stage. The harmonies was amazing - Bruce is fantastic.
The Shadows own set was amazing. Hank with new variations on Sleepwalk, and Bruce changing guitars more than ever.

This time I had a better seat and this was great.

Tomorrow it's RyanAir back to Norway.

Thank you Glasgow.

Hi Alan,
On Friday night, I was in Block B and high up near the back. On Saturday night, I was in Block GG, 2nd row with Hank being in front of me. So, I zoomed in to see that the Black and Green guitar, which he was playing, was a Burns make. I did not realise that it was a 12 string. When Cliff joined in with Bruce and Hank with the 3 of them playing Acoustic Guitars, Cliff was playing Bar Chords and I think he was sharing the Lead with Hank. Great pictures, Alan. I was having trouble with the lighting, as usual at these events, and also with sharpness and low F numbers on my camera.

George,
I too was heartened to hear them playing the very early numbers. Yes, the overall sound was very good considering the Concert Hall was a large shed. I don't know how they can start playing so well in the darkness at the start of each half.
Rune,
I agree that the sound was even better on Saturday night.

Looking forward to the live DVD,

Neil.
