I have to say ,and certainly not with any pleasure at all, that in my opinion that overall the show was very disappointing.
I had never heard of the Fabulous Shadows before, but anyone playing Shadows music is always worth a look.
From the opening numbers , the lead player seemed to be having a pretty bad night with fluffed notes, missed timing etc, but his "sound" was awful, nothing like anything I have heard before, and not much like a "Shadows"sound. There was some confusion with the set list and a pretty half hearted attempt at the "walk", abandoned half way through a song.
Second half was pretty much the same , and there were quite a few empty seats after the interval. They just seemed to me to be unrehearsed, which given the £16 ticket price seems a little bit off. Plus points were definately the drummer and particularly bassist, who definately held the whole thing together.

The set up looked great with the band wearing smart dark red jackets and all of the so much publicised Fender, Vox & Burns gear all there as the curtains opened to an almost full theatre.

I do appreciate that this - The Golden Greats Tour has been put together in order to aid of the fine works carried by The Alzheimer's Society, however the wonderful musical heritage of The Shadows needs to be performed much better than this. Phew!!! Im glad it was not just me!!!
I was going to give them another chance , as they are playing in Bognor in May, but having read further posts I will give it a miss.
I heard that there was another Shadows tribute band playing at the Beach Tavern in Pevensey a couple of weeks ago. Did anyone see that?
Looking forward to The Rapiers in Eastleigh next week!!
