So why are you continuing to add messages to the thread? In fact why are you even looking at the thread?

This is not a bit of fun, this about respecting the legacy of the Shadows. As such it is just as serious and important as every other topic started on this board.

I have to make an illustrative comparison here (without getting into politics).

The former Yugoslav republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina is ethnically divided into three entities: Serbs, Croats, and Muslims. When they were deciding about what kind of flag they should have, they could not agree. The Serbs wanted to include their symbols on the flag and their colors, the Croats wanted theirs, and the Muslims wanted theirs. The stalemate and the quarreling went on for weeks. Finally, the UN High Commissioner for Bosnia-Herzegovina decided that the flag should be a totally different design, with none of the proposed ethnic symbols or colors. The same thing happened with the national anthem, the coat of arms, and even the license plates on their automobiles.

Perhaps we should forget about the voting and our own "High Commissioner" should just propose a design and get it over with. I would prefer that than to have people quarreling over my design, or even worse, knowing that hundreds of members will be logging into this forum every day hating the board header that I proposed
.

Just for the record, .... yes I was one of the 81 who voted,.... no I didnt vote for the winning design, but I congratulate Bojan for winning the competition......I have accepted the new header as it stands....... :|
I didnt vote for his design for the simple reason that I think words & symbols are far more effective for this type of website......(2 of Noel's were my favourites)........ less is more...??.....but again that is just my humble opinion..... & look what controversy the photos have caused already !!!!! :o
The criteria that was most important to me personally was that the design had to incorporate the name of the website that my late husband started & ran ...... The Shadows Are Here..... & at least the winning header has that on...... :|

Bojan...I hope your latest grandson arrives safe & well, my congratulations to you & your family. :P

Thank you Lesley!! I want you to know that I was an active and happy member of Ade's forum for several years . . . and I am really glad that it is now a part of this forum.

As for the board header, only two of my designs included photos of the individual Shadow members, the other five contained symbols, for example one was just a red Strat with the letters . . . so I made different designs. The "problem" was that my two designs that did include the photos got the most votes. Go figure! :?

Steve . . .

Actually Steve, I think it's just normal human behavior! Getting people to agree, or to agree to disagree, is what diplomacy is all about! ;) :D

Actually, people criticizing the vote is an outstanding example of democracy at its finest. It's when people are not allowed to criticize a vote that democracy is threatened.

If you feel there is something better to talk about then you are free to ignore this thread and go talk about it - Democracy in action.

It seems to me that if people had voted for the board header over the past two weeks with the same passion and intensity that they have been discussing it these last two days, we would have had a plebiscite -- and probably a different board header

A "Plebiscite". I thought the Klingons wiped 'em all out.

A referendum (plural referendums or referenda), ballot question, or plebiscite (from Latin plebiscita, originally a decree of the Concilium Plebis) is a direct vote in which an entire electorate is asked to either accept or reject a particular proposal. This may result in the adoption of a new constitution, a constitutional amendment, a law, the recall of an elected official or simply a specific government policy. The referendum or plebiscite is a form of direct democracy ideally favouring the majority. In the U.S. these are typically known as ballot or citizen initiatives when originated from the general population and referendums when legislative propositions are referred to the voting population.
