Bruce Welch visits Surrey Shadows Club

Postby Bob Withrington » 25 May 2011, 09:21

Wow!

All of us Surrey Shadows Club were absolutely thrilled that Bruce Welch took time to pay us a visit last Friday (20th May). He was in very good form and pleased to meet and chat to everyone, at what was a typically well attended meeting. The highlight of the evening was Bruce playing "Please Don't Tease" along with Don Crisp (vocals), Terry Bryant (lead), Chris Kenward (drums), Eric Pole (bass) and Bob Dore (keyboards). Marvellous!

Our resident photographer, Tony "Ironside" Rodrigues took well over 200 photographs, which we shall be using to produce a Newsletter Special.

Wow!

Hi Bob

Congratulations on a truly memorable meeting, what a wonderful experience and inspiration to have Bruce visit.

We very much look forward to seeing you on Sunday, hopefully with some great pictures of the occasion.

Best wishes to Surrey Club from all at South West Shadows.

I was at the Surrey club when Bruce visited a few years back. As many folk have said before, a real gentleman. He didn't play that evening, but took time to chat to everyone. But did anyone have a camera that evening? Or even just a phone with an inbuilt camera? No!

Hi Ken,

Unfortunately I was away on holiday when Bruce Welch visited the Surrey Shadows Club for the first time. I am not aware of any photographs being taken but if there are any in existence we would be pleased to receive copies.

Cheers,

It's not every day you get to play lead alongside the best rhythm guitarist in the world, so, as you can imagine, I had a fabulous evening! This more than made up for my missing Shadowmania last year for the first time due to illness.

'Please Don't Tease' is a great number wot Bruce wrote which went to Number 1 for Cliff and we had great fun performing it.
