Shadsfax R.I.P Welcome Ventures mag

Postby hoffers » 30 May 2011, 08:30

Hi all

As you may know, Shadsfax is no longer active and after the sad passing of Gerry Woodage a couple of years back I've turned my attention to publishing a Ventures fanzine, The Ventures International Review.
28 pages in full colour with news, reviews, articles and pics of America's greatest instro combo.
So far 4 issues have been published and details can be found with these links:

Another superbly produced magazine which should be of interest to all fans of guitar instrumental music.
I've already thoroughly enjoyed the first three mags and eagerly await the arrival of the latest issue.
Great work Tony - thanks for all your efforts to keep us up to date with all things Ventures.
Cheers,
JB

Hello all
So sorry to see 'Shadsfax' finish, just as well we have this terrific website for information. Thanks Tony for all of the hard work and time that you put into it. Must admit that I am not a great fan of the Ventures, lots of talent but not much flair! but good luck with the new publication.
Any news on the Jet & Tony special that you were planning?

Yes indeed, The Ventures are still gigging in the US, Japan and Canada and recording new albums.
And The Spotnicks have just issued a new album and Duane Eddy has one out next month, too.
Furthermore, they recorded the material TOGETHER in the studio which surely makes for a better recording as they musically feed off each other.

Apart from Hank's solo efforts, Shads fans have had one new group instro (Life Story) since 1990!!!

Such a waste!!!
