Does anyone know where i can obtain digital versions of the songs on the EP 'rhythm and greens'? I've got the EP on vinyl but would like them on CD format so i can complete my collection of everything the Shadows recorded digitally remastered.

You'll find this track on the EMI compilation : "Complete Singles: As & Bs: 1959-1980"

All five tracks were issued in stereo on the 1991 6 CD box "The Early Years 1959-1966", but is I think now deleted. The compilation Didier mentioned, only features the title track. The closest you can get, is to obtain a copy of the 2004 EMI UK CD "More Hits!", which features the mono as well as the stereo issue of the compilation, 32 tracks in all. "Rhythm & Greens", "The Drum Number" and "The Lute Number" are featured in mono and stereo on this CD.

Just to confirm - as far as I'm aware, the only CD release with all five R&G songs was the "Early Years" box-set mentioned above.

Otherwise, the easiest songs to source are Rhythm And Greens itself, along with The Drum Number and The Lute Number, all of which are included on the revised CD version of "More Hits!", though that particular disc is now deleted. Secondhand copies may be around.

Ranka-Chank is (or was) available on "The EP Collection vol 2" and "The Early Years" (both deleted, as well as on the EMI/MfP/Trio three-disc box-set "The Shadows Collection". Although available new for £22.99, If you want that set, you might be able to get it - all three discs - for one UK penny. I'm not kidding:

How's that for a penny?

But as for Main Theme... I don't think it's been issued on CD except on the (deleted) "Early Years" box set... :o

It's listed on the Trio set, but the actual recording is Rhythm And Greens...

Hope this helps.

If you want that box-set for a penny, there are two sellers currently offering it (plus £1.26 p'n'p).

Thanks guys. I can't understand why most of the tracks never appeared on the EP collections that SFM put out in the early 90's.
I think i'll just copy my vinyl version to mp3/wav formats (in mono). Don't fancy buying compilations for just 2 or 3 tracks that i have several times already!

In fact all the tracks from "Rythm & Greens" are on this CD in stereo (I have just checked on mine), but it's not available anymore from Magic Records.

Quite right. For some reason. although I have a copy, I had not entered the Magic Records CD "The Final 60's" [sic] into my database. That has now been rectified.

I still have reason to believe that Main Theme (the real track, that is) has only been issued on CD twice, and that both of the releases are now deleted.
