New interview or not, John's fellow Shadows are known to have rated him highly. I think it was Brian who said his timing was impeccable, he was the best bass player they had, Hank who said he combined Jet's drive and innovation with Lic's steadiness and reliability and Bruce who said he misses him still. And group composing really took off once he was on board.

The original edition of "Funny Old World" was terrific and I'm confident the revised one will be even better.

Yes. It's certainly true to say that during his tenure, the Shads were writing prolifically -- probably more so than either before or since. Some of my favourite Shads compositions are from that period -- Shimmy, Ranka-Chank and Scotch on the Socks to name but three. I'm sure that he will be sadly missed for a very long time to come - and how many people realise that he was responsible for two of Olivia's biggest hits?

A very talented man. I shall buy the new book with pleasure when it comes out.

Hi Rob.
I looked high and low for the "Funny Old World" on Sat at Shadowmania. I obviously did'nt look in the right place.
I suppose Leo's Den have it on their site.

I saw Rob at Shadowmania and he explained that the project was delayed. I'm sure he'll say something here in due course!
