Newcastle rocks (and rolls)

Postby Twang46 » 13 Oct 2009, 00:01

Just back from the concert at Newcastle.
What can I say..... it was Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat !!
This has to be in the top 2 or 3 concerts I have seen, Hank on top form (far better than 2004), Bruce & Brian great, the back line excellent & the new arrangements are top class.
The sound was everything (& more) I had hoped for, sharp/mellow/powerfull and when backing Cliff, Hank & the boys delivered a masterclass in good old feel good rock & pop.
Cliff was great as well with his voice surprisingly powerfull at times
I was concerned about Cliff's voice & approach to the music but he rolled back the years with a truly vintage performance that I must admit left me eating quite a large portion of humble pie at the interval ;)

It's all been said before, but it really is true, if you haven't got a ticket GET ONE NOW

What a way to sign off :D it's now full circle for me after seeing the Shads many times & Cliff now twice,1962 & tonight.
I can't imagine the dvd being any better than this

Cheers

Dick.

i Have to agree with Dick, this was an excellent show.

First time that I've managed to see Cliff and he didn't disappoint.. They were all in fine form, although I'm not entirely sure that extra track Hank played will be a hit :)

Sound overall was good, , with Hank right up there in the mix

Indeed it was a excellent show and a great reception from the crowd on Hank and Bruce's home ground. The whole arena was standing for the last three numbers.
Nice local touch from Hank by including 'The Blaydon Races' in the intro of FBI.

Brilliant evening. Pity about the traffic logjam trying to get out.

Yes, he did something similar in Glasgow - a suitably Scottish tune which I now can't remember...

Just wondering why the Newcastle show has attracted significantly less interest by way of views & replies ?

It was after all a "home" gig for Hank & Bruce & sold out !

Mabye us geordie lot are in the minority after all, as we "only" got one show.

Anybody any ideas?

Cheers

This has been going on for a while now with the S&N brewery.

Those who went to the Newcastle Shads weekends at the Lancastrian suite (on the brewery site) may have noticed that you could not buy S&N beers at the bar.
"Organising a P*** up at a brewery" springs to mind, just makes you wonder how big business reach these decisions, it'll be a sad day when the brewery finally goes "south"

Cheers
