Actually it's a good idea to read the small print before you buy anything.

Is Curley Thompson your real name, by the way? You know, the name you are required to use when you register on this site? (Read the small print, it's right there.)

Just wondering because Cliff Richard played the role of Curley Thompson in the movie Serious Charge. Perhaps you were named after the character?

I would welcome any recording which was a carbon copy of any of Lord Sutch's bands from 1961-64!!!

Hi all.
This is a CD I bought in Hong Kong, 1997, from a street stall in Mong Kok. Millions of CD's for sale. Acording to the CD it's The Shadows. No indication that it's a cover band or a flip flop band it's The Shadows.
Put it on to play back at the flat and guess what, it's not The Shadows. Its easy to listen to, well recorded with good musician's but not The Shadows.
Has anyone come across this CD?
Regards Geoff.

I think Rob Bradford explained everything 100% and Paul Day certainly did his research on the albums.
The Artists record the tracks and the companies release them as they wish, If there had been any contracts worth their salt we would have been quids in
after saying that I realy dont think sales of these were great at all Shadows fans bought them to see how poor we all were against the real thing.
No one could mistake any of these recordings for The Shadows.
Before EFTP when everyone was trying to copy the Shadows sound with echo and commpression, and tried our best, I remember the intro to Apache seemed to go on for ever, I nearly forgot when to come in. Most of these recodings were done before The Apaches were a live performing band it was suggested that some of these tracks were released under the name "The Kon-Tiki's

Geoff

Never seen that one before! That's a blatant attempt to pass something off as the Shads - the inclusion of Lara's theme *might* be a giveaway, but would probably be accepted as it was a Hank track. There's bound to be others, but they are different from the cover albums.
