I didn't see Monday's (first) programme, but saw most of the Tuesday edition.
The most fascinating part of Tuesday was seeing three of the former Lambeth Boys watching themselves again on-screen. Mind you, it would be hard to believe that they hadn't done the same thing several times before, since the entire documentary film of "The Lambeth Boys" was shown on TV about 15 years ago (well into the VHS era) and some of the original participants (including all three of those interviewed this time) were also featured in an updating documentary at the same time.
If I remember correctly, the chap to whom life had clearly been least kind had had a particularly unhappy history, since his daughter was murdered in London, maybe twenty-five to thirty years ago. It was mentioned in the last Lambeth Boys documentary.
Tonight's programme (about the First World War) suffered from less available newsreel footage. The same old clips were re-shown. Still it was moving to hear the children and grandchildren of men who fought in that war describing what they had learned of the period.
