Hi all

Did you see it! Just been on BBC2 Reel History Of Britain. A great show full of nostalgic memories from the past, clips include Wee Willie Harris, Marty Wilde, glimpse of the 2i's and i think heard a little of Duane eddy's Cannonball in the film clip of the wigan girls local dance hall. Maybe on i player if you missed it, Happy watching!!

Hi Keith,
Clem Cattini & Alan Caddy both left Johnny Kidd & the Pirates to back Colin Hicks as part of the Cabin Boys!! Musically, they knew that it wouldn't be the same - but they were apparently tempted by the offer of lots of money. The money never materialised and the stint with Hicks was by all accounts an unmitigated disaster in every way. Before long they quit following a disastrous short tour of Italy!!) to form what would become the Tornados. But......they were with Colin Hicks during July / August 1961. So.....it may have been another set of musicians if you saw them in the late 1950s. Probably that & you half - remembering something about the Tornados??

Bests.....Rob :)

Many thanks Rob, maybe my date/thought processing is going the same way as my guitar playing !!, I think Terry Dene was also on the bill (A white sports coat) which would suggest 1957/8

I didn't see Monday's (first) programme, but saw most of the Tuesday edition.

The most fascinating part of Tuesday was seeing three of the former Lambeth Boys watching themselves again on-screen. Mind you, it would be hard to believe that they hadn't done the same thing several times before, since the entire documentary film of "The Lambeth Boys" was shown on TV about 15 years ago (well into the VHS era) and some of the original participants (including all three of those interviewed this time) were also featured in an updating documentary at the same time.

If I remember correctly, the chap to whom life had clearly been least kind had had a particularly unhappy history, since his daughter was murdered in London, maybe twenty-five to thirty years ago. It was mentioned in the last Lambeth Boys documentary.

Tonight's programme (about the First World War) suffered from less available newsreel footage. The same old clips were re-shown. Still it was moving to hear the children and grandchildren of men who fought in that war describing what they had learned of the period.
