Not sure it was a Gibson, it might have been an Epiphone, I don't remember. I'll check that at our next meeting in september. But it's indeed a J200 owned by one of our rythm guitarists.

Hi
I've just found another lady lead guitarist on YouTube. She's very good! I'd be very happy to play that well. Perhaps someone knows her from one of the Shadows Clubs?

Hi Rosemary
I've only just come across your videos. I must have missed the thread in July. Your playing is really excellent, especially after only a year - fantastic! Way better than I was at that stage and probably now after nearly 50 years! The sound is great too. You are just as good as the female player in the Wipe Out video. (Isn't the drummer awful?! - hope he isn't a friend of yours!). It is worth playing in public even if it is to small audiences like a Shadows Club- it improves your playing no end. I don't play in public now (coward!), but did fairly soon after I started and I learned very quickly! But your playing is great anyway and if, like me, you just play at home as a hobby, it is the best one in the world.
Kind regards and well done!!

Thanks for your replies, Walt and Tim

Tim: Thanks very much for your encouraging words. :) I've been learning about 18 months now and am glad you think the practice is paying off. I'd love to meet with other players as in the Shadows Clubs over there but unfortunately there aren't any in Brisbane, Australia where I live. I doubt I'd be able to play in front of anyone yet because any slight change to the guitars or environment tends to put me off e.g. different guitars and trem bars - even the length of the guitar strap! but one day it would be great to give it a go. Here's hoping! :)

Thanks again

Hi Rosie,
Just watched your videos. Wow, well done you ! You need to get together with others of a similar interest in Ossie-land to share knowledge & encourage each other. Then ....... form a band. You deserve to be heard, even if it's only playing at charity events & fetes. Jamming with friends gets your skills honed. Practise until you hate Apache with a vengeance, then you'll know it well enough to perform it live without even thinking about it.

Best Regards, Tony.

Hi Tony
Thanks :) I'd really love to get together with other Shadows players sometime so we'll see what happens. I never get tired of playing or listening to Apache - or the others for that matter which is just as well because I've been working on them for so long. Usually I play the Apache gallop when watching TV at night but still haven't quite got it. :)
All the best

I think you have to be realistic Tony as Rosemary lives on a vast continent. The chances of meeting up with other female guitarists for a jam session is surely remote. We're OK here in the UK, densely populated with equally densely populated European countries within 25 miles of our shores.

Forming a band Rosemary must be very hard. However that's not to say you can't form a virtual band composed of female musicians from other countries or indeed your own.

I didn't say form a 'female' band. Just ..... a band. Obviously, in a large country like Australia with such a dispersed population, it is not as easy as here in Europe, but if you don't try, you don't get. I'm sure there are lots of other bedroom players in Brisbane, as there are in the UK.

Tony.

Hi Bri and Tony
Thanks. I agree it's more difficult to meet Shadows players over here but I've been in contact with two local players the last year so maybe one day. :) At the moment I'm still trying to improve my playing but when I'm confident enough of my ability I'll start asking around.
Best wishes
